About Yasmin Davidson.
Yasmin Davidson is a contemporary artist from Scotland and is based on the Isle of Berneray. Davidson works in the field of painting and drawing. Yasmin graduated from Duncan of Jordanstone University in 2013 and has since had solo and group exhibitions.
Vast travel experience has allowed Yasmin to immerse herself in different social environments and view everyday life from various perspectives. Meeting people and learning about their traditions and culture inspires her creativity.
Yasmin’s work has a strong narrative and is often portrayed figuratively through strong colour and expressive mark-making. Selected landscape and domestic compositions are charged through Davidson’s distinctive colour palette, where painted realities float on exotic-coloured grounds. There is a presence of Vuillard in her paintings, where the day is presented in refreshingly vivid terms.
Yasmin invites you to engage and position yourself within her private world and the skewed reality her work inhabits. The work displays humour and poignancy in equal measure, simultaneously straddling the familiar and alien.
